Optimization

Optimization refers to things we do to a Website to make it more "findable" by the search engines, and to make it an efficient sales tool for your company. The optimization process may include everything from rewriting content to adding key word meta tags (behind-the-scenes code only seen by search engines).

Improving Website Results

Once we’ve analyzed your Website’s performance and set up tracking systems to provide regular reporting on function and activity, we can begin the optimization process.

There’s no such thing as the “perfect“ site. Even if there were, what works today and gets you terrific results may not work next month. All kinds of things can happen! Here’s how:
  • Search engines frequently change their indexing criteria which can affect your ranking.

  • Competitive sites with “better” functionality, more targeted key words or bigger ad budgets might get ahead of you.

  • Other sites that link to you (remember, link popularity can make a big difference) might have eliminated their link pages.

  • Other sites might have optimized, doorway or hallway pages specific to individual search engines. (Sometimes these pages reside on other servers that specialize in this service.)

A lot goes on “behind the scenes”. If your site is not meeting your expectations, there are numerous methods we can use and features we can add to boost performance.

Note: Be sure to run your statistical reports before and after you make any changes so you can measure their effectiveness.

Search Engine Basics

Here’s a partial list of measures we can take:

  • Rearrange, change, misspell, and translate key words into other languages titles etc. (One of our sites tripled its traffic by changing one page title!)

  • Improve key word density.

  • Keep your content “fresh”. Spiders sometimes move your listing closer to the top when you show lots of activity on your site.

  • Write headlines and Website descriptions according to the specifications of key search engines.

  • Test keyword, headlines and content to see which combinations get the best response.

  • Add auto responders and put links directly back to your site in the eMail messages generated.

  • Make sure your e-commerce back end is functioning properly. If you don’t have automated online purchasing capability, GET IT TODAY!

  • Verify site submissions and directory listings and check for accuracy.

  • Repeat this process at least once a month (more often for key search engines)
